19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first trophy for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult season, managing just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in especial - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with former mentor Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial trophy after the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt from March of that year.

The win also means the Russian has won 21 titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters together, so to win a title is particularly special," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six title deciders, including in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had caused observers to wonder if his capacity to compete at the highest level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete positively, supported by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors traded breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial professional title, took control to create a third set.

Moutet saved 4 initial opportunities in a close third set before the Russian broke to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner secured the win with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
