'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith renews clash with City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he recalls the nail-biting dying seconds of Swansea's stunning fightback win against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. That match wrapped up with Galbraith briefly donning a fan's glasses following the post-goal scrum.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a long-range strike from distance, and the defender promptly converted the deflection before racing off toward the East Stand to mark the goal, with the crowd mobbing the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The result capped an unbelievable turnaround given the team had been behind 2-0 during the final 45 minutes. In the celebrations, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're people, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The victory secured a upcoming game at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith ran close at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. Galbraith had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in remarkable manner, with a teammate's volley from about long distance going in via the bar and the Stefan Ortega. It feels criminal that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've awarded it to him for taking the effort on from that range," says Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right wing-back after Orient changed shape. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he traded tops, and the attacker was among the opposition who complimented the way the underdogs approached the match.

City's Quality

"Fitness-wise they are very good but even the basics and routine actions, they can just execute repeatedly," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they know how to manage and slow down a game. You can think you're holding your own and then abruptly they will just deliver a through ball between defenders without you even noticing. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It demands a tough attitude and focus just to keep pace."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side sought to acquire Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to sign him in the summer in a significant move. He made a name as a popular figure across a couple of years at his former club and has swiftly done the same in Wales. At his previous team he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who four years ago gave Galbraith his first extended run in professional games on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a loan at fourth-tier the Manchester club, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Development Path

"I was likely a somewhat inexperienced going into men's football. I think a lot of players would say under-23s football is very different. Sometimes it feels like possession is exchanged without serious challenge. There are limited tackles or duels. Once you start playing first-team football you have to learn quickly."

National Team Success

He has shown that maturation for club and country, shining for Northern Ireland, who are fighting to qualify for the World Cup next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including both legs games against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's ex- international manager, offered the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he controls possession and his knack for a killer pass.

Early Days

It has been quite the ride for the player from the Queens Park estate in the Belfast suburb, just outside Belfast, who grew up watching his father, Stuart, also a central player, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Old Trafford Memory

His sole appearance for the Red Devils came in Central Asia in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the host city, where they played on an synthetic surface and the stadium roof was closed owing to the weather of bitter cold. "It was a long trip and it was chilly," he says, chuckling. "The week before, myself and quite a few of the young lads worked out jointly, so that aided our adjustment. Just to accompany the senior squad and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Leaving United

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged a teenager? "The decision proved fairly simple, because I arrived at the moment where I realized I couldn't establish myself at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the time I spent there but it became apparent where I thought I had to take a different path, join a smaller club and play first-team games. Now I'm steadily working my way back up."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during the middle of the day at the club's training ground but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a learner's exam, another progress toward getting on the road. Before his recent move to his new neighborhood, the young professional was a constant rider in Swansea's so-called player transport, a team vehicle driven by club employees, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"My companions include a teammate, Ronald, the midfielder – a former passenger used to be in it but has got his license. It's enjoyable to interact with the lads but I'm planning to be the next one to stop using the bus and on the road. Franco is known for his humor; he's frequently playing tricks."

Fan Interactions

During his time at Leyton Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside fans on the Tube after beginning his trip at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
