Jeffrey Epstein acquired a smaller island - Little St James - back in 1998, but acquired the more expansive adjacent island in 2016 for a sum of $22.5 million.
These photos reveal he had created ambitious plans to develop the substantial island by erecting homes, an amphitheatre, an underwater office and a pool.
Marked on the plan is Pillsbury Sound, a strait in the territory, marked on the lower right-hand corner.
This development map is marked up in handwritten red notes and contains a legend labelling different sections of the land.
In addition to the main plan are what appear to be nine other property layouts and engineering blueprints, such as layouts for dock shelters.
